The role
To assist the Head of Private Clients and the Senior Underwriter develop and administer a profitable book of Fine Art & Specie business.
Key accountabilities
- Underwrite, review, peer-review, process and service risks in line with the jobholder’s Underwriting Authority, the business plan, and all underwriting rules and guidelines.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with brokers at all levels to grow a book of profitable business and provide excellent customer service.
- Administration of risks and monitoring / reporting of aggregates and policy / location limits.
- Preparation of reports.
- Support technical accounting to resolve queries and ensure smooth and accurate payment and booking of premiums.
- Monitor the performance of account and suggest appropriate modifications to underwriting guidelines, wordings, clauses and rates.
- Provide information to the claims team and assist claims in delivering key messages to brokers and clients where appropriate.
- Help ensure that market-leading claims service is at the forefront of our offering to clients and brokers.
- Contribute to the business plan, help establish appetite parameters, underwriting guidelines, pricing and market strategy.
- Participate in special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed. Nurture a culture of strong collaboration with HDI colleagues around the world.
Skills & experience
- Prior experience working within an insurance role such as underwriting, operations, account handling or broking
- Good knowledge of core insurance concepts and terminology
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for Fine Art & Specie is desirable
- Able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, to build positive working relationships
- Excellent attention to detail
- Educated to degree level or working toward insurance qualifications
- MS Office skills – Outlook, Excel, Word, &; PowerPoint
- Confident in using Excel, including the use of pivot tables
- Power BI experience
