The role
- Support the delivery of functional strategic plans by handling key day-to-day tasks essential to the operation of the Compliance function.
- Undertake compliance monitoring, regulatory reporting and internal reporting activities Assist in ensuring that all activities performed by HDI UK and Ireland – particularly Compliance Monitoring - are conducted in accordance with relevant regulations and in accordance with internal standards and controls.
- Carry out allocated activities as outlined in the Compliance Calendar. Maintain the Calendar for the Compliance Team.
Key accountabilities
- Compliance Reporting: Assist in the collation of information for inclusion in the periodic reports to Senior Management and HDI Home Office.
- Compliance Monitoring: Support the delivery of the Compliance Monitoring Plan including conducting periodic monitoring on as well as assisting in thematic monitoring.
- Support the timely collection of MI and production of accurate reports.
- Assist in the building, maintenance, and delivery of the Compliance Plan.
- Pro-active identification of day‑to‑day compliance risks and support appropriate mitigation.
- Assist in tracking, monitoring, and reporting progress on open Compliance actions.
- Support the maintenance and ongoing development of the Conduct Risk Framework.
- Assist in reviewing and updating policies and procedures in line with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Provide support in offering practical compliance advice to the business related to provision of MI or reporting requirements.
- Assist in developing effective processes to obtain high‑quality MI from the business and third parties.
- Prepare and submit regulatory returns. Specific knowledge of REP019 and REP021 are a requirement.
Skills & experience
- Experience in regulatory reporting, compliance monitoring and data analysis, including thematic reviews.
- Financial Services experience within an FCA/PRA regulated environment.
- Ability to interrogate data and information to identify root causes and trends.
- Analytical skills, with the capability to break down complex issues and identify patterns and interdependencies.
- Balances risk awareness with pragmatism when recommending solutions.
- Effective workload management, with the ability to prioritise tasks, support team objectives, and proactively escalate potential delivery risks.
- Contributes to a culture of transparency where issues are raised early and resolved constructively.
- Committed to continuous development, actively building expertise in compliance, regulatory change and industry best practice.
- Good stakeholder management skills to support effective relationships internally and externally including senior management, Delegated Authority counterparties and regulatory bodies.
- Able to develop an understanding of HDI's customer business and its regulatory environment, supporting the implementation of practical, outcome-focused compliance activity.
- A collaborative team player who supports team performance and works effectively across business areas to contribute to a strong compliance culture.
- Confident user of Excel. Power BI is desired.
