Finance Technician

The role
Working with claims and operations to supply a proactive and flexible service whilst driving best practice and ensuring compliance with all company procedures. This includes meeting agreed service and data quality standards, both internal and external.
Key accountabilities
- Working with the Delegated Authority Manager with regards to the escrow accounts.
- Manage escrow cash settlements.
- Initiate claims escrow fund set up with and manage closure.
- Management and reconciliation of monthly outsourced claims escrow funds.
- Liaison point with all TPA’s in relation to escrow reconciliations.
- Working with the claims operations team to ensure that claims bordereaux are booked in line with the escrow reconciliation.
- Creating and updating operational process manuals and other procedure documentation.
- Assist with the documentation, maintenance and monitoring of compliance and governance initiatives.
- Actively participate in projects or other initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the team.
- Validate and accurately enter data into company systems to enable reporting on the nature and financial impact
People
- Support TPA processes, performance objectives and time management.
- Support the induction and peer training of new employees.
- Lead by example through seeking out and leveraging diversity in all its forms and to create an inclusive work environment where innovation and fresh perspectives are embedded for the benefit of our people, our business and for the customers and communities that we support.
- Support health and safety due diligence as per H&S legislation to ensure safe working conditions for teams through resourcing, active documentation of incidents and proactive identification and mitigation of risks and hazards.
Customer
- Build stakeholder relationships and represent the team where appropriate to acknowledge and build on success and improve any shortcomings in our servicing of clients.
Risk & Compliance
- Fulfil individual risk and compliance related obligations and provide support to and monitoring of the Branch’s adherence to Group and Regulator guidelines.
- Provide proactive risk and compliance awareness by reporting any incidents or breaches identified within our compliance requirements.
Skills & experience
- Experience with claims and premium bordereaux.
- Reconciliations experience.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good user of Excel & Word.
- Good communication, (written and oral), and interpersonal skills; comfortable with phone & face to face discussions with technical claims, underwriters & operational colleagues.
- Demonstrate motivation skills.
- Able to organise own workload effectively to meet service standards.
- Deadline focused; able to work under pressure to meet tight/complex deadlines.
- Good systems knowledge, experience of using systems to evaluate data.
- Good understanding of insurance and the terminologies used.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understand financial impact of technical data processed.
- Finance qualifications are desirable.
